Privacy

This site belongs to me, Paul Andrew Sneddon, a writer in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. Any question about your data comes to me at pasneddon@gmail.com.

What I collect and why

  • Email subscriptions. When you subscribe, I keep your email address so I can send you new stories, book news and the free copy of Miserable Bastards. I do this because you asked me to (your consent). Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can use it at any time.
  • Comments. If you leave a comment, your name, email address and IP address are stored so the comment can be shown and spam can be filtered out.
  • Contact form. If you send me a message, I keep your name, email and message so I can reply.
  • Site statistics. The site gathers basic, anonymised statistics, such as page views and the country a visit came from, so I can see which stories people read.

I don’t sell your data or share it with anyone for marketing.

Who else handles it

The site runs on WordPress.com, owned by Automattic, which stores the data above for me. You can read its privacy notice and cookie policy. Some pages have YouTube, Bandcamp or Spotify players embedded, and those services may set their own cookies when you play something. Book links go to Amazon, which has its own privacy policy.

Cookies

Some cookies are needed for the site to work. Others help with statistics, and those are only used if you agree in the cookie banner.

How long I keep it

Subscriber details are kept until you unsubscribe. Comments are kept for as long as they’re on the site. Messages are kept for as long as I need them to deal with what you asked.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information I hold about you, or withdraw your consent, by emailing pasneddon@gmail.com. If you’re unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
